This is an important question to ask if you are considering buying a hot tub spa. Researching and comparing hot tub spa prices reveal that hottubs are a purchase that should be thought out thoroughly. If you are planning on buying one, you want it to be some sort of an investment as well. For example, hot tub prices average out to be around $5000. Because of that, you may be wondering how much hot tubs, as a home improvement project, can increase your home value. Are you going to get your hot tub prices money back when you sell your home? Or is a hot tub spa simply for pleasure and nothing more?
Well, it's a bit of both. Unfortunately, there's no definite guideline for how much hottubs and hot tub spas improve a home's value or if they do at all. But generally speaking, as with most home improvements, a hot tub spa can't be expected to gain you back the full hot tub prices cost of purchase and installation when you go to sell your home (this doesn’t include hot tub prices for periodic maintenance either). If you decide to buy a hot tub spa, it should be for you and your family to enjoy, and whether or not it can increase the value of your house should be a distant second consideration.

While hot tub prices may not be as significant as an entire outdoor kitchen installation, hot tubs can add value to your house nonetheless. Hottubs can certainly improve the appeal of your home for potential buyers. Unlike a swimming pool, a hot tub spa is not likely to pose a threat to unattended children (hottubs covers are pretty heavy, and most come with locks, or they are in enclosures that keep kids and pets out of harm’s way). Also, although the cleaning and maintenance of hottubs can be a bit of a turn off, it isn't as big a deal as cleaning your typically large swimming pool. So, there's really no potential downside for various home buyers. And there is a potential upside. A hot tub spa could increase the desirability of your house, especially from home buyers are interested in hot tubs or became interested in hottubs after seeing your hot tub spa. Thus, a buyer may be willing to pay more for the property. Because honestly, who doesn’t like relaxing in hot tubs?

However, it should be noted that this depends a bit on the area you live in. Hottubs aren't as sought after in sunny climates where the weather doesn't cool off much. Who wants to sit in a tub of hot water when it is 100 degrees outside? They could be filled with cool water though and hot tub prices are extraordinarily cheaper than swimming pools.
On the other hand, hot tubs can be big selling points in the Pacific Northwest, and other areas where the evenings are cool even in the summer and snow falls in the winter. No matter where people live, the promise of soothing hot tub spa jets on achy muscles is almost always a selling point (in general, hot tubs are used far more often than jetted bath tubs). And, of course, for families that like to entertain, hottubs can be a selling point because it gives people a reason to come over and visit.
So if we take a look at the original question, it’s safe to say that chances are high that hot tubs increase the value of your home. This will depend on the location you live and the conditions of your home, but it is possible for you to gain back the some or most of monetary value of the hot tub prices that was spent on the original hot tub spa purchase to begin with. In colder regions, you may even get back more than you smartly invested in hottubs.
